"We 'lived' in Kookaburra Gite, La Redorte, for six months, after spotting it on the internet when planning a sort of semi retirement dream holiday in South West France. The gite is ideally located in the Minervois region of the Languedoc and the village is just the right size for getting to know the local people. For those wishing to improve their language skills, the village is also predominantly French, unlike some of the neighbouring villages where in the summer you sometimes struggle to hear a French voice.
The proximity to the Canal du Midi was a huge bonus as were the many surrounding vineyards where it was possible to take good long walks or cycle rides. The accommodation is ideal for two couples or a small family and we found supplied everything we needed for our long stay. The owner, Susie, was extremely helpful and always available to help with any queries ( not just those related to the gite rental ). I would recommend Kookaburra Gite to anyone who is thinking of taking a holiday ( long or short ) in the Minervois.

La Redorte - a spacious, light, clean and welcoming holiday house, very modern and comfortable, the kitchen was fantastic so we could cook and entertain our friends. We particularly liked the short walk to the shops ( pharmacy, post office, supermarket ). The people in the village were friendly and most helpful as our French was limited. It was very quiet, so we could sleep soundly! Thank you for the wonderful memories!

As a family of four, we stayed very comfortably at La Redorte. The appartment has teh perfect mix of old and new and as soon as we opened the door and saw the gorgeous period tiles, we knew we had made the right decision to stay in this little village.
The two separate living areas (lounge/dining room) allowed the children their space to watch TV, whilst the adults could linger longer over dinner. The kitchen was well equipped and everything we wanted was provided. Beds were comfortable and the ensuite to each of the bedrooms was an added bonus. There is a laundry and hanging space in the garden.
La Redorte is a small village on the Canal du Midi. The canal is a two minute walk away and we enjoyed strolling along the canal under shady trees, to the nearby villages. The village has the added bonus of a supermarket with fresh fish and produce. A short walk to the patisserie and our shopping was complete.
Sue and Bruce were very helpful in answering any questions we had and I do not hesitate in recommending this appartment or their services to anyone who is thinking of holidaying in this wonderful part of France.
